Coast Guard unit teaches boat safety in Clear Lake
The U.S. Seashore Guard Auxiliary launched its yearly Safe Boating hebdomad by offering free courses of study in the Houston-Clear Lake country over the weekend on seamanship, safety and ordinances and regulations.
The programme is designed to remind leghorns of safe boating patterns and do certain proper equipment such as as fire fire extinguishers and flares are on board.
Frank Muraglia, of the Houston chapter of the U.S Seashore Guard Auxiliary, said there are about 6,000 boats in the Clear Lake country alone. He said instruction about safety could salvage lives.
"This is an attempt to acquire the public's attention riveted on boating safety," Muraglia said Sunday.
The programme acquires underway in May when recreational boating activity increases.
The subsidiary held safety bank checks at four locations Saturday and will go on the programme through the summer.
The vas safety bank checks are conducted by qualified members of the seashore guard subsidiary and are the best manner of learning about possible misdemeanors of state or federal law. Auxiliary members also supply leghorns with safety tips that could possibly forestall jobs from developing, Muraglia said.
